I restored a vintage Peugeot bicycle in the lockdown period since the end of March. I bought the stripped, but complete bike with all items from Eric Prinsloo. Searching on the internet, it seems that it could be a 1973 PX10 or PA10.
When I stripped the paint, I realized the frame has been re-painted quite a few times before. I could count at least 6 different layers of paint!
It was a complete restoration, from removing rust on the frame, to replacing all ball bearings, spokes and even some of the bolts and nuts.
The frame was stripped to bare metal, small holes filled with body filler, sanded and then painted with primer, base coat and clear coat.
All other items were cleaned, polished, some painted and re-assembled. I still plan to re-chrome the cranks and headset.
Thank you to Eric for the bike, Steven for the brake hoods and front derailleur cage, and Darren for the decals!
Took the bike for a 20km coffee ride this morning, what a joy to ride such an old bike!
